An attractive and scarce version of Spode’s blue “Italian” pattern, by a contemporary potter, probably Zachariah Boyle. Blue tinted pearlware glaze.
Unmarked other than a centrally impressed “8”, c1830’s.
Approx. 10″/25.7cm diameter.
In excellent condition after 200-odd years. Very fine glaze crazing which is faintly discoloured to the rear rim. No noticeable utensil marks. Minor edge rubs and one tiny edge flake. No cracks, breaks or restoration.
