A fine small, Georgian period Wedgwood jug showing a hare or rabbit hunting scene, with blue jasper “dipped” neck and handle.
Approx. 5.25″/13.5cm tall and in very good condition. There is even, very faint brown spotting to the white stoneware and prominent mould lines. There is a line under the blue of the handle which appears to be a manufacturing hairline under the paint. A faint witness mark is just visible, but I can’t get it to show in a photograph. There is a 2cm “craze” line inside the neck, which is not a hairline and it does not pass through to the outside.
Impressed “WEDGWOOD” and “D”, c1820.
