A rare commemorative jug, attributed to Rathbone, “Success to Queen Caroline”, approx. 6.5″/16.8cm tall and in excellent condition.
There is a manufacturing firing crack inside the base and the hint of another to the base, small firing cracks to the mould lines of the protruding leaves on the handle, one with a flake, minor rubbing to the lustred rope-twist rim and the odd minor scratch to the lustre surrounding the sprigged portraits. No chips, cracks or restoration. A better example than that usually found.
No maker’s marks, c1820.
