A rare antique bone china jug, attributed to Rathbone, moulded to each side with a portrait of Queen Caroline, inscribed “Success to Queen Caroline” and with floral moulding to the neck. This example is also transfer printed with a hand coloured Chinoiserie pattern. (This jug is more usually found in pink lustre and rarely transfer printed).
Decorator’s mark only, c1820.
Approx. 5.25″/13.3cm tall.
It is in good condition and displays perfectly, but there are a couple of internal firing cracks and one to the handle which has caused a hairline. There is also a fine hairline to the shoulder, as shown.
A rare example.
